Project Manager

Job Summary:
This position provides project management services for small and medium size projects for the Workers Compensation Board (WCB).

Job Duties:
Manages small and medium size corporate projects that span all aspects of the WCB.

Manages the 6 project management process groups of initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for corporate projects.

Manages project integration by developing project charters, developing project scope statements, developing project plans, directing and managing the project execution, monitoring and controlling the project work, integrating change control, and closing the project.

Manages project scope by scope planning, defining scope, creating a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), verifying scope, and controlling scope.

Manages project time by defining activities, sequencing activities, estimating resources and duration, developing schedules, and controlling schedules.

Manages project budget by estimating, budgeting, and controlling costs.

Manages project quality by quality planning, performing quality assurance, and performing quality control.

Manages project human resources by human resource planning, acquiring project team, developing the project team, and managing the project team.

Manages project communications by communication planning, distributing information, reporting performance, and managing stakeholders.

Manages project risk by risk planning, identifying risks, performing qualitative risk analysis, performing quantitative risk analysis, risk response planning, and risk monitoring & control.

Manages project procurement by planning purchases & acquisitions, planning contracting, requesting and selecting vendors, administering contracts, and closing contracts.

Effectively applies project management methodology and enforces project standards.

Manages project team staff’s performance during the project and provides input into their performance appraisals.

Pursues professional and personal development through continuing education and training, literature reviews, workshops, seminars, etc.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Two (2) year diploma in Business Administration or Information Technology ( from a CIPS accredited Community College) or 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Computer Science
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
Minimum seven (7) years of direct practical experience working in a project management environment including a minimum two (2) years experience managing or leading information technology projects.
Advanced proficiency in the use of personal computer and software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project) in a Windows environment.
Ability to apply project management techniques and methodologies
Excellent problem solving and analytical ability
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate with and influence others
Ability to lead project teams and motivate team members
Ability to organize and prioritize workload under pressure within tight deadlines

Ability to work independently and in a team environment
